Finest Quality Rocking Horses

We go to great lengths to ensure that our rocking horses are of the highest possible quality.

Below you will find a checklist of features present in our Bramble rocking horse to consider and compare when looking at other rocking horse suppliers.

Bramble is our deluxe rocking horse, however most of these features are present across our whole range.

An Original Registered Rocking Horse Design

Our rocking horses are original registered designs, combining the best of classical construction techniques and innovative contemporary approaches.

Why settle for a reproduction when you can have an original design and future classic.

All of our horses are created by a single artist, ensuring consistently high quality across the whole range. A great deal of time, care and attention is paid to the creation of each horse. This means a limited supply of rocking horses are available each year (in the case of Bramble only 2 to 3).

As well as their aesthetic value, our rocking horses have an intrinsic scarcity value.

Not Another Third World Import

Our rocking horses and other wood toys are made completely by hand here on the banks of the river Wear. Each one a painstakingly hand crafted work of art created by a single artist.

No third world labour is exploited in the production of our rocking horses.

wood supplies are from ethical eco-friendly sourcesEthical Environmentally Friendly Rocking Horses

We go to great lengths to ensure that the timber for our rocking horses comes from reclaimed sources or Forrests Forever and/or FSC (Forest Stewardsip Council) certified eco-friendly ethical suppliers.

For more details of our ethical policy, please see the quality care and ethics page.

Our dappled rocking horses are hand painted, the finishing detail applied using an airbrush to achieve this realistic finish. Note the fine attention to the facial details of horse head below.

Notice the detail in the curvature of the stomach. Unlike many other rocking horses, great attention to detail is paid to these less visible areas of our rocking horses, another sign of high quality construction and painstaking attention to detail.

Stepped Rocking Horse Hoof Rail and Real Sense of Movement

We have spent a lot of time in the design of bramble, to add a real sense of movement. Notice the head and neck turned to look towards you. Notice the stepped hoof rail. Our horses beckon your to child to ride.

Non Gessoed Construction

Gesso is a type of plaster made from glue and whiting. It is traditionally used to cover the joints of the horse, however it can also be used to hide poor construction and can be chipped.

to detail and non-gessoed joints

We take great pride in the finish of our horses so we concentrate carefully on construction to present the perfect finish to the timber before applying the paint finish directly onto the finished horse.

Our modern construction techniques mean our horses are more stable than a gessoed horse. This involves more work for us, but we feel it's worth the effort as this makes for a much more hardwearing rocking horse.

While our rocking horses are finished to such a high standard that gesso is not required, for the more traditional among you, we can however gesso your rocking horse if requested.

Hardwood Rocking Horse Stand in a Choice of Timbers

Notice the quality finish of the rocker. Sturdyness, stability and durability. With quality brass fittings throughout.

Our stands are availble in a choice of timbers, including oak, ash, basswood and mahogany.

Quality Hand Stitched Detatchable Leather Rocking Horse Saddle and Tack

Our horses come with a choice of fixed or removable hand stitched leather saddles. Our removable saddles are built around a wooden tree (skeleton of the saddle) complete with hand stitched stirrup leathers, a dark hard wearing saddle cloth edged in red or blue, and a girth strap. The saddle is buckled on with the girth, just like a real one.

Our English tack and saddle are available in Antique brown. This is a hand applied process which gives the leather a splendid aged look, although the Leather is new and of the highest quality. Also available in, dark Havana or light London tan.

Our western saddle (shown below) is an outstanding model that is actually constructed for real miniature horses and small riders. Featuring handsome floral embossing, with a smooth leather or suede seat it is something unusual for your little cowboy enthusiast. Comes in black or brown
